May 15th was donut day, in partnership with the Salvation Army, at 106.9 The Ranch. We gave free a donut breakfast to first responders out on the front patio of the station, and Sarah crowned herself the Chief Donut Officer of the office. The relationship between the sweet breakfast treat and the Salvation Army is etched in their history, as the first donut girl – Helen Purviance – handed out the first homemade donut to a solider in 1917 in France. Today, young people continue to give their time and love to the organization to serve Americans in many capacities.
Happy Donut Day!
