Country singer Brett Young proposed to his longtime girlfriend — Taylor Mills, who accepted — earlier this month. The couple told People, “We are both more excited than we can express, and looking forward to starting this chapter of our lives together.” Young proposed at the Graduate Hotel near Ole Miss, where he went to college. According to Young, the couple met over 10 years ago in Arizona, while Mills attended ASU. Young and Mills dated for six years, broke up when he moved to Nashville and then reconnected. He says he wrote much of his first record, the Brett Young album, about her – it includes love songs like “In Case You Didn’t Know” and “Sleep Without You,” and also breakup songs like “Mercy and “Like I Loved You.” Young said: “It was just the wrong time for us. We recently got back in touch and realized that we were both finally in the same place and knew it was right.”
